Surprise?

I've heard from more than one person (some of which are good, wonderful friends) that since 99% of people portray Miss DJ PON-3 here as UBER-KEWL BASS CANNON DUBSTEP, that she can't be shown in a "cuter" light. I respectfully yet vehemently oppose this notion.

That said, after this piece, I acknowledge that there is challenge involved. ^^; Nevertheless, consider it accepted.

Technicals:
- First time using a lightbox and colored pencils! Far as I'm concerned, they've already paid for themselves.
- Still feeling out what kind of media I'm most comfortable with, though. I like the leeway digital coloring provides, but I love the feel of coloring with tactile media such as pencils. (I don't have a tablet. Yet, anyway.) Marker experimentation will have to wait until my next disposable cash influx.
- I'm still using my very first sketchbook that I picked up off my local convenience store's shelf--which as I look at it now, is classified "heavyweight" paper. I'm guessing that's why my harder/sharper pencil lines keep coming out so grainy. S'like drawing on concrete sometimes. This may be a thing to fix, especially since I've almost used up the whole book by this point anyway! Turns out scanners are still the most evil things in the universe. I'll be looking into cleaning this up or maybe just making a v2. Gosh you folks should see the actual paper version of this. :(
- Stuff and junk. I dunno.

...d'aww. <3

I very much like how this came out. It feels like you're getting more and more comfortable with your drawing, and it pays off here with a pose and expression that have just the right kind of character to them. Likewise, I very much like the soft touch you bring to your colors; the fade effect of the reflected light in Vinyl's shades is especially well-done. ^_^

All that, AND we get some insight into your drawing process? TOTAL :+fav: time. :D

also oh my glob i feel your pain. if i had a nickel for every time my scanner's straight-up ruined a pic of mine.... ;w;
